Sponsored by Shockwave Medicine Professional Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Association, the Preparatory Committee of the 22nd World Conference on Shock Wave Medicine, the Sports Injury Branch of China Medical Rescue Association, and undertaken by the Orthopedic Center of China Armed Police General Hospital, the second musculoskeletal disease extracorporeal shockwave therapy certification course ESWT treatment of osteonecrosis of femoral head nonunion and nonunion practical class were successfully held at Beijing Changfeng Holiday Hotel from June 8 to 10, 2018. This course is mainly divided into two parts. One was to invite well-known experts from related majors at home and abroad to give special lectures and practical exercises on the application and progress of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in musculoskeletal diseases and other fields. Second, the theoretical teaching of extracorporeal shock wave therapy for femoral head necrosis and nonunion and the practical operation of the treatment of related cases were carried out, for which discussion was made in depth, so that trainees can master its key technologies and methods.

The class was lectured by Professor Xing Gengyan, chairman of the International Society of Shockwave Medicine. The team led by Xing Gengyan began to apply extracorporeal shock wave therapy to treat musculoskeletal diseases in 1993, and it has been 25 years since then. The team has established the ESWT treatment system for musculoskeletal diseases in China, edited 2 related monographs, published more than 300 related professional papers, and won the first prize of national scientific and technological progress, and organized the first and second editions of Chinese Expert Consensus on Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Muscular Diseases, which provides valuable basis for the promotion and application of this therapy in China. Other lecturers of this class are professors from well-known hospitals at home and abroad.

 

 

After the speeches of Professor Xing Gengyan and Sun Zhenxue, vice president of Armed Police General Hospital, Professor Xing Gengyan gave a detailed explanation on the three characteristics of extracorporeal shock wave: producing different mechanical stress effects at the interface of tissues with different densities, which causes the release between tissues; improving microcirculation, promoting elastic deformation of cells and increasing oxygen uptake of cells; stimulating microvascular regeneration and promoting bone and cartilage formation. He made a detailed comparative analysis on the classification of shock wave sources and emission forms, showed the number of SCI records in the field of shock wave medicine from 1996 to 2016, and comprehensively summarized the latest progress in clinical application of shock wave. In addition, the nonunion postoperative efficacy of ESWT before and after femoral shaft fracture was compared comprehensively. Finally, Professor Xing sent an invitation to the doctors to attend the 22nd Global Conference on Shock Wave Medicine in Beijing in 2019!

 


At 4: 00 p.m. on June 9, 2018, the Expert Group Meeting on Revision of China's ESWT Guidelines was held simultaneously. The meeting was presided over by Professor Xing Gengyan, and attended by the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Standing Committee of the Society. The revision of this guideline further promoted the standardized application of ESWT, increased the indications of ESWT, and supplemented and improved the clinical application guidelines corresponding to indications.

 


In this training course, the monograph Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Musculoskeletal Diseases and Consensus of Chinese Experts on Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy for Musculoskeletal Diseases are used as teaching materials, and the course was set with reference to ISMST Related Guidelines. The courses were taught by well-known experts at home and abroad, who combined the theory and practice, and explained the operation methods, key points and precautions in view of the on-site interaction for typical cases, thereby strengthening understanding and practical operation. The successful holding of this shock wave class has promoted the development of cutting-edge technology and clinical application of extracorporeal shock wave therapy. By strengthening academic exchanges of shock wave, the quality of diagnosis and treatment of shock wave diseases was improved, and the participants benefited a lot.
